We're not all lucky to live near an Asian or Vietnamese market. Thank goodness for the internet! I've never bought food ingredients online and encourage people to physically seek food out from actual markets. But sometimes that just doesn't work. This visitor asked for some guidance and here's a transcript of our email exchange:

Question:

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am interested in buying the fried shrimp chips that were mentioned in your website. The market where I previously purchased the product no longer carries them. They were called "Fried Shrimp Chips:Banh Phong Tom". Are there any websites online where I can buy them? Thank you for your time.

Answer:

Do you want to fry them yourself or do you want to eat them right out of the bag? I did a quick Web search and realized this: If you search for "shrimp chip" you'll get the packaged pre-fried ones (like American potato chips). Type in "shrimp cracker" and you'll get the un-fried variety. Anyway, these sites may be worth checking out:

www.ethnicgrocer.com
www.asianmerchant.com
www.indomerchant.com (looks a lot like Asianmerchant.com!)

I'm not familiar with most of the brands offered by these sites. If you try them out, let me know how you like them!

Hope I'm of help,

Andrea
