This is not an exhaustive list of sites, but merely some that I think may intrigue you. Some are bilingual (Vietnamese and English) and some are strictly for Viet speakers. Here's how they're organized:

Viet Food and Recipes

Asiarecipe.com
A rich pan-Asian website full of of cultural information. There's a strong focus on food and cooking. Many of the Vietnamese recipes here are from published cookbooks, The Classic Cuisine of Vietnam and The Foods of Vietnam. They are identical to the ones at the ivietbusiness.com site, but are much better presented.

Chot Nho
A lively recipe forum conducted in Vietglish. A small number of recipes are in English. Lots of interesting information can be gleaned from this site, including how to make your own soy sauce!

Earthcare.com

From an Australian nursery comes this recipe collection based on exotic plants available at the nursery. The botanical information is interesting and the Vietnamese recipes give a perspective from down under.

GoCEE Viet
Aside from having links to sites on Vietnamese cooking, GoCEE Viet offers a comprehensive listing of sites related to Vietnam and Vietnamese people in America. Use the left-hand sidebar to navigate through the amazing list of resources.

Introduction to Vietnamese Cooking
Built by KSVN, the first Viet-language radio station in America, these pages offer interesting descriptions of popular Vietnamese dishes. Though no recipes are included, the text offers insights on Vietnam's cultural traditions. Users have to negotiate a few grammar and spelling errors, but the site's worth it.

Recipe Source
Previously known as the SOAR site from UC Berkeley, Recipe Source offers a wealth of cooking knowledge from all over the world. Their Vietnamese recipes number around 100 as of May 2003.

Tu Vy
The recipes and short introduction are from Duong Thi Thanh Lien's cookbook Vietnamese Dishes (1973). A bit outdated, this cookbook was one of the first Vietnamese cookbooks to be written in English. Tu Vy is a site that promotes Asian books and literature.

Vietnam Style Gastronomy Page
Here's a page with information on Vietnamese culinary traditions. No recipes, just very interesting copy.

Wandering Spoon
An informative and fun site by Viet American food writer Thy Tran. Her professional background in food research, editing and writing provides a fresh perspective that connects culture with cuisine.

Nguoi Vien Xu (in Vietnamese only)
A very knowledgable Viet food expert in the motherland answers the culinary questions posed by overseas Vietnamese. It's a great resource for Vietnamese food and traditions.

VN Net (bilingual but essentially Vietnamese)
A portal for Vietnamese culture, the site includes recipes that users have submitted. Use the "topics" links to access the recipes and cooking instructions, which are in Vietnamese.

VN Recipe (in Vietnamese only)
An interesting compilation of authentic Vietnamese recipes that's unfortunately only for users who can read and understand Vietnamese. Note that cooking measurements are metric.

Lang Que Viet Nam (in Vietnamese only)
This website from Hanoi contains articles on traditional life in northern Vietnam. In the "Huong Vi Lang Que" section, there are several articles on rural Vietnamese cooking methods and foodways.

Am Thuc Vietnam (in Vietnamese only)
Want to know about the current food scene in Vietnam, go here! The site is self-described as a "huge and complete directory of bars, restaurants, recipes and food in Vietnam."

Viet Communities and Culture

e-Asia
Digital library from the University of Oregon has a great collection of Asian stories and folktakes in its third issue of the ezine "e-Asia". Click on Southeast Asia to access Viet materials.

Guide Vietnam
Offers travel tips and information to people wanting to visit Vietnam. Good section on cultural background and includes a listing of cooking classes in Vietnam too.

Living in Vietnam

Tons of resources for folks (expats!) interested in or currently living in Vietnam. The information ranges from cultural tips to restaurants in Hanoi and Saigon to a portfolio of rental property.

Mam Non
The virtual home of Mam Non, an organization providing cultural information in support of Vietnamese adoptees in the U.S., this site facilitates dialogue on issues related to children and ethnic identity.

Viet France (trilingual)
Though focused on France and Europe, this is a sizable portal to all things Viet on the globe.

Viethoo
Vietnamese people are terrific copycats. Here's the equivalent of a Yahoo! search engine that's devoted to the online Vietnamese community.

Viet Space (bilingual)
A robust site full of news and information on the Vietnamese-American community. Operated by Kicon located in Little Saigon in Orange County, CA.

Viet Scape
This site from San Jose, CA offers information on Vietnamese entertainment (music, movies, local events, and cultural festivals).

Viet Touch (bilingual)
A beautifully-designed site on Vietnamese history, literature, language, art, architecture, music and philately (stamps), and numis (coins). Lots of gorgeous images and well-written text.

Viet Ventures
Created and maintained by a Viet husband and wife team, this site is chock full of great information on Vietnamese history, culture, business, and yes, food! These are people who love the country.

Viet Nam's Women's Forum
A discussion list founded in 1998, this serves as a virtual space for women to exchange ideas, information, resources, news and social concerns that affect Vietnamese women living in Viet Nam and abroad.

Vietnamese Bibliography
For those doing research on Vietnamese society and history, this scholarly biliography is a great resource.

Non-Viet Food Reference & Recipes

Asian Food Reference Book
Maintained by the Asia Society, a non-profit organization, this site offers recipes and information based on Charmaine Solomon's Encyclopedia of Asian Food. Includes a listing of online shopping resources.

Gernot Katzer's Spice Pages
For a cross-cultural discussion on herbs and spices, visit this site. Focused on Asia, Katzer provides users with scientific and and culinary information. Photos are included for guidance, and the site's available in English and German.

Open Directory Listing of Recipe Websites
Alphabetically lists a ton of sites on cooking with short description of each.

Thai Table
Explore the culinary commonalities between Vietnam and Thailand at this site. It's loaded with authentic Thai recipes, information on Asian ingredients, and Asian markets in the U.S.

Refdesk Listing of Recipe Websites
A comprehensive alphabetical listing of websites on food, cooking and recipe. The parent website refdesk.com is a terrific and reliable resource for information on virtually anything.

Food Reference Website
Loaded with information for those with a passion for food, cooking and trivia.

Oldways Preservation & Exchange Trust
Want to learn more about traditional foodways of cultures around the world? Here's a think-tank, non-profit educational organization that promotes specific alternatives to the unhealthy foods characteristic of eating patterns in industrialized countries.
